Talitha Cumi Empowerment Foundation, Ltd is a faith-based, survivor-centered nonprofit organization with a mission to break the cycle of intimate partner violence (IPV) in Nigeria. Established to provide holistic, trauma-informed care, we serve women and adolescent girls through a comprehensive support system including temporary safe housing, emotional counseling, spiritual healing, and economic empowerment.
Founded on the belief that every woman is created in God’s image and deserves a life free from fear, our programs are rooted in both local cultural contexts and internationally recognized strategies like the WHO’s RESPECT framework. From awareness campaigns and mentorship initiatives to survivor-led business support, we foster safe, informed communities where women are equipped to reclaim their freedom and future.
We are committed to walking with survivors—not just in crisis, but through the entire journey to wholeness. Through our offices in Enugu, Nigeria, and the United States, we are building a movement of compassion, accountability, and restoration—where every survivor is empowered to rise.
To raise awareness, prevent abuse, and empower survivors of intimate partner violence.
A society where women and girls are safe, valued, and free from intimate partner violence.
We provide a continuum of care—from immediate crisis intervention to long-term healing and empowerment. Survivors gain access to trauma-informed counseling, vocational skills training, peer mentorship, and temporary safe housing. Our holistic approach ensures that each woman is not only safe but also equipped to live independently and confidently.
Sustainability is at the heart of our model. By embedding services into local communities, training survivors as peer leaders, and building strong partnerships across sectors, we’re creating a support system that can endure beyond project timelines and funding cycles.
In Nigeria, 31% of women aged 15–49 have experienced physical violence, and 9% have suffered sexual violence, mostly at the hands of intimate partners. Cultural stigma, lack of shelter, legal protection, or financial independence often traps women in cycles of abuse.
We provide trauma-informed, faith-rooted, community-based care, addressing not only the immediate need for safety but also long-term empowerment, emotional healing, and social reintegration.
Our work is rooted in Christian values of compassion, justice, and restoration. We believe every woman is created with inherent dignity and deserves to live a life free of fear.
Our approach focuses on creating sustainable change by addressing root causes, empowering communities, and delivering compassionate solutions.
